We're now back in Auckland gathering camping gear for the forthcoming weeks, having hitched a lift with one of Ross and Chris' lovely friends this morning. We were both really sad to leave Mangawhai, but there's a lot more of New Zealand to see! It was really nice how we slotted into life there so easily though as Chris said it'll definitely be a lot quieter now there's just us two!
The surfing lesson went well yesterday, I think I found the early start more challenging than the surfing! Both of us managed to get onto our feet on a few waves, which was encouraging, though of course I was first to stand!! (Billy was very surprised!)
By the time we'd got off the water at about 10am we were both exhausted, but managed to wander down to see everyone at Mainly Music and take a trip to the 'Op Shop' (Charity shop!) before we collapsed in a heap. Billy enjoyed waving various knifes around in the op shop before deciding on a suitably threatening duo, and we picked up a non stick frying pan for the equivalent of 50p - bargain! In the afternoon we 'enjoyed' another stint of gorse spraying receiving several electric shocks from cattle fences in the process. We went to life group with Chris for the 3rd time in the evening which was a good laugh - though mostly at our expense! Billy discovered his best ever blueberry muffin, but only after an extremely thorough tasting session had been carried out.
This morning we woke up at 5am and joined 20 others on the Preston's desk at 5.30 to make as much noise and commotion as possible (party poppers, fireworks and cow bells were utilised) to wake Wayne up on the morning of his 40th birthday. Chris made a yummy chocolate brownie cake, and we all enjoyed brownie and coffee at a very unearthly hour of the morning.
Hope everything is good at home,
Lots of love,
Rosie and Billy
